OF Everything is made from items that have had a previous life. Either as a birthday card for a far-away friend, a menu to an exceptional restaurant, or perhaps a curtain that hid many secrets. These products are full of stories of their own. BY Volk is making them. Me. Danny Volk. All products are designed and handmade in my one bedroom apartment in Andersonville. Small business indeed! FOR These goods are responsible items. My design philosophy is to use the plenty of modern living, waste, as the raw materials. Instead of creating more stuff out of virgin materials, I am creating (and hoping to inspire) a new perspective on the things we see as trash and refuse. Instead of adding to the waste, we are creating from it.

Michigan Avenue Magazine FALL 2008 "Can't seem to part with those I -just-had-to-have-them fashion pieces that you no longer seem to wear? Go see Danny Volk, the man behind VOLK! bags and the guy that found a way to put those items from your past to good use. Volk's designs take remnants "that have had a previous life" and recycle them to create new (and chic) tote bags. The sentimental value of a piece like this goes above and beyond anything else you've ever owned."
Chicago Tribune likes VOLK! Here's what Brenda Butler, Senior Features Editor of the Chicago Tribune, had to say about VOLK! in the July 13th, 2008 Summer Style edition of the Chicago Tribune Magazine: "THE BARRISTA WITH THE JOLT OF STYLE Chic designer bags we get. And got. It's the second bag--the tote--that can wreck a look. In comes Danny Volk, the barrista at Elements Chicago, whose one-of-a-kind VOLK! bags make great companions to designer anything. Volk makes his totes from remnants 'that have had a previous life,' he says. 'Either as a skirt worn on special occasions, or perhaps a curtain that hid many secrets.'" Thanks Tribune!
